Christmas ATCs
I made these for the Kaya Nov-Dec challenge. I actually finished it early December (or was it late November?) but I wasn't able to post at the Kaya blog until a few days before deadline. Anyway, I thought I'd make a series on "Jesus is the reason for the season". I thought it is very timely as Christmas is becoming more commercialized. In fact, I just got back from Thailand where the majority of citizens are Buddhists, and I was surprised to see Christmas decors everywhere. The locals told me that they love Christmas for the festivities. So here, I guess even among those who claim to be Christians, it is easy to get lost in the merriment of the season and we need to be reminded once in a while that Christmas is here because Jesus was born to be our redeemer.
So anyway, I used old kits and paper scraps to make these ATCs.

Scrapping my fave photo
When I got the Studio Calico July kit "Documentary", I knew I will use it to scrap my favorite photo. I just love the colors, the patterns and it's great for a travel photo. So I printed my photo a bit larger than usual - 5x7 - so it will be a strong focal point.
This photo was taken in PreRup, one of the temples in the Angkor region of Cambodia. It was already our third day and we have become more comfortable with our guide Sophal so we were game for some cheesy shots. I love the texture of the wall behind us and I love that we were looking at each other. I experimented a bit with some actions and I love how it turned out.
I used a light blue cardstock - I thought it matches our jeans. I distressed the edges of all papers with ink so they don't look flat.
For the flowers, I inserted some foam adhesives under the petals. Then I adhered the center and the petal tips on the paper.
I just love the stamp that came with the kit. I also love those perforated tickets. I made a little ATC here which I used to embellish the page. The camera and the stamp stamp (get it?) emphasized the travel theme. The little ticket I used on the ATC was sprayed with water, crumpled, straightened out and inked.
I also distressed the flowers with ink. I added a few more stamping (from October afternoon) and more perforated tickets. Can you see the fabrips across the paper just below the photo? I love the fab rips!

For the First Time
Not the movie! Artist Trading Cards!
I think for many of us Pinoyscrapbookers, last August 23 was a real first at making ATCs. I 've seen a couple of ATCs in magazines, in blogs, etc. I know some people actually swap ATCs with other artists. I must confess I did wonder why thy'd go through the trouble of making them. Well, my eyes were opened during the PS eb. They're so much fun to do! And yes, swapping with other people may be a neat thing to do. I might just start doing that soon.
So here's my first ever ATC with a matching tin can. The kit contained "vintagey" papers so it was my first time to try vintage too!
Here's the back and top of the tin can. As you can see, I used crackle paint for a really worn look. And I just love that stamp!
My ATC didn't win but my tin can did! I bagged 3rd place (got a stamp and a CD full of digital goodies), next to veteran April Lim and master Iris Uy. I went home feeling like a real champ! Haha!
